As LCD panel manufacturers are increasing the production volume of new size panels, the supply and demand of LCD TV panels are not expected to be kept in balance.

According to the relevant industry, Samsung, LG and other major display makers are reducing the output of the panels in the range of 30 inches. These display producers are curtailing the production of 32 & 37-inch panels, which were leading models of the LCD TV market last year but are increasing the output of new panel products with different sizes instead.

TV makers are still making a high demand for the panels with the previous sizes, causing a possible imbalance between the supply and demand.

30-inch panels are most favored by Chinese TV makers, thus the production of the panel with 32 inch accounted for the highest rate of 30~40% last year.

Unlike the demand required by TV makers, the output of 32-inch panels would show a drastic drop this year. NPD DisplaySearch expects LG Display and Samsung Display to cut down on their panel production to 4.6 million and 4.4 million units in the first quarter this year from 5.9 million and 5.4 million units in the same period of the year before respectively.
