AUO lands more Ultra HD TV panel orders from Philips

AU Optronics (AUO) is expected to further bump up its shipments of Ultra HD TV panels due to a recent order increase from Philips for 55- and 65-inch units, according to industry sources.

The orders from Philips are expected to help with AUO's performance in 2013. AUO also has Ultra HD TV panel orders from Sony and Toshiba in 2013, the sources added.

Philips is also planning to release an 84-inch Ultra HD TV, but with panels supplied from LG Display, said the sources.
