Taiwan panel makers still hold advantages in product development over China makers, says AUO president
Despite the rise of China panel makers in recent years, panel makers in Taiwan have about a year over the China makers in terms of product development and time to market, according to AU Optronics (AUO) president Paul Peng.

When asked if AUO was worried about the rise of China panel makers, Peng said Taiwan's panel makers still have high prospects in the panel market as long as they stay ahead in innovation, maintain a 6-12 month period over China makers in product development, and continue to land orders from first-tier customers.
Peng stated that such developments can be seen through AUO's Ultra HD TV panel products as well as its eTP technology.
The president also said that AUO is not worried about panel tariff increases implemented by the China government as most of the company's modules are already produced in China.
